Coaches are in the business of transformation; we often work with individuals who feel “stuck” and unable to transform on their own. Clients come to coaching with a set of learned reactions, behaviors and beliefs yet they often seek to create change, get unstuck, solve problems or face challenges using the same dominant, patterned responses they have been using without the realization that “what got you here won’t get you to your next destination. For example, it’s common for American clients to rely heavily or even exclusively on the Mental sphere – the rational thinking brain, - the “head space.” Western culture trains us to make change via planning, rational analysis, pros and cons etc. While using mental work to adjust mindset and the thinking/ planning mind to make an action plan can be helpful, it often falls short because clients remain blocked in other areas, unable to access the multiple intelligences available to them. The MEET Transformation model invites coaches to guide their clients to tap four spheres of experience: Mental, Emotional experiences, the Embodied sphere of physical patterns and bodily experiences and connection to a Transcendent experience of innate interconnectedness and “collective” meaning. When we apply the coaching competencies of Listening Actively, Evoking Awareness and Facilitating Client Growth with an awareness of all four spheres, we are able to support clients as they experiment with new practices and perspectives to create the transformation they seek.

In this workshop we will use case studies and personal experiences to actively practice these coaching competencies in order to help our clients MEET Transformation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Using case study and role play, coaches will understand and learn to apply the MEET Transformation Model of personal change that incorporates 4 spheres of experience: Mental, Emotional Embodied, Transcendent
  2. Using case study and role play coaches will practice active listening skills (“Focuses on what the client is and is not saying to fully understand what is being communicated in the context of the client systems and to support client self-expression.”) and will apply awareness of 4 spheres of experience (MEET) in reflecting meaning back to the client.
  3. Using case study and role play coaches will practice Evoking Awareness (“Facilitates client insight and learning by using tools and techniques such as powerful questioning, silence, metaphor or analogy”) by using questions, metaphors or analogies that apply the MEET Transformation model.

Using case study and role play coaches will practice Facilitating Client growth (“Partners with the client to transform learning and insight into action. Promotes client autonomy in the coaching process.”) by co-creating practices, actions or activities that may assist the client in applying the MEET model in their own transformation.
