Reciprocal Coaching Circle FAQs
What is it?
This paid coaching arrangement pairs each participating coach with both a coach who coaches them and a client who they coach. It is considered paid coaching and counts toward ICF credentialing. The purpose is to provide members with an opportunity to practice coaching skills and obtain paid coaching hours.
Who runs it?
ICF Upstate New York provides administrative support by arranging pairings. Once pairings are communicated to participants, it is up to the participants to reach out to determine the next steps and coaching agreement.
How many coaching hours can I earn?
Each coach pairing will determine session length. It is recommended that the coaching sessions be 45-60 minutes in duration. Depending on the coaching arrangement, participants can earn 7.5–10 hours of paid coaching that can be applied through ICF credentialing. (If sessions are recorded for submission to ICF, it is recommended that sessions be between 30–60 minutes in duration to comply with ICF requirements).
Is coaching face-to-face or online?
Sessions can be conducted via Skype, Zoom, or a compatible platform. Phone sessions as well as inperson sessions, if agreed upon, are acceptable.
How much do comparable coaching circles cost?
Comparable coaching circles charge a variety of fees ranging from $55 to $250 and typically run between 6-8 weeks.
Can sessions be recorded?
Yes as long as both partners agree to be recorded. The recorded sessions can be submitted to ICF as part of a credentialing application.
Why is there a cost?
The cost covers administrative support for the coaching circle and helps the Chapter generate revenue to support future activities and events as well as build Chapter infrastructure. Plus, you as a Coach will count these as paid coaching hours!
